The Art of Doing Absolutely Nothing

The Art of Doing Absolutely Nothing

An ode to Mediterranean lounging, endless afternoons, and the very serious business of the beach nap.

There is nowhere else you’d rather be.

The sun is warm, the sea is right in front of you, and the day seems to stretch forever.

You swim when you get too hot. You lie in the sun until the salt dries on your skin. You go back into the water. And somehow, hours disappear.

That’s the beauty of Mediterranean summers. You don’t need much when the day itself is enough — the warmth of the sun on your skin, the sea at just the right temperature, the smell of salt and sunscreen, and those endless summer afternoons when the sun seems in no hurry to disappear.

Just simple pleasures, savored slowly.

And then comes the beach nap.

While lounging on Le Backrest, enjoying a perfect sunny day, the sound of the waves becomes soothing and your eyes start to feel heavy.

You know the feeling.

You could fight it.

Or you could turn Le Backrest into the perfect headrest.

Push it a little deeper into the sand, incline it, and adjust it behind your head. It feels like having two or three pillows propped behind you — your head comfortably supported and elevated rather than lying completely flat.

Personally, I feel more at ease surrendering to the abyss this way. That position, even while asleep, keeps me aware of my surroundings. And when I open my eyes, the beach is right there in front of me — no need to sit up or even lift my head.

And somehow, that feeling makes it even easier to let go.

No pillow. No extra beach gear. Nothing else to carry.

Just you, the sun, the sea, and nowhere else you’d rather be.

Maybe the art of doing absolutely nothing is simply knowing when nothing needs to be added.
