About
I’m Gwladys. I grew up in the South of France, where going to the beach was never complicated. No giant chairs. No wagons. No carrying all your belongings into the sand. Just a backrest, the sun, and the whole day ahead.
That backrest was my father’s. In the 1980s, people along the Mediterranean coast started repurposing fishing stools as beach backrests. My father had one. He called it “ma chaise”: his chair. He kept it for decades, never gave it up. Some things are worth keeping...
The company is named after my grandmother, Dédé. She was tiny, sharp, and always impeccably chic. Her house was beautiful, her style effortless, and she didn’t take nonsense from anyone.
She knew exactly how to live. This brand is built in her honor. She had that French je ne sais quoi everyone envies.
Ten years ago, I moved to California. I got to the beach and watched people dragging enormous chairs across the sand like they were relocating.
NON!
So I went back to what I knew. I redesigned the backrest I grew up with, patented it, and brought it to you, lucky ones.
Welcome to Le Reclining Club.
WE DON'T SIT. We recline. And we do it well.
If that’s not for you, the beach chairs are elsewhere. Because how you do the beach matters here. This is where le je ne sais quoi begins.
Je vous en prie.
Introducing
Le Backrest
Le Backrest is the star product of Chez Dédé Supply&co. This innovative backrest is inspired by a fishing stool.
In the 1980s, people along the Mediterranean coast repurposed fishing stools as backrests. Over time, they became harder to find and slowly faded away. My father didn’t let go of his. He kept it for decades, never gave it up, and treated it like it was irreplaceable. In a way… it was. Because of that, I was fortunate enough to grow up with it.
Some things are worth keeping.

"His Chair"
My father called his backrest “his chair.” In French, “ma chaise.” And if you asked him why, he would launch into a whole speech: he used it as a chair and, according to him, it was better. It didn’t just support his back when he sat, he could recline and even take a nap by placing it under his head as a headrest. Plus, the whole thing still fit in his bag, so he didn’t look ridiculous making his entrance.
Words of wisdom. Merci, Papa!
That reasoning stayed with me, and years later we named it La “Chair” in his honor.
We design with intention, favoring simple forms and thoughtful choices.
From recycled aluminum to reusable packaging, our approach reflects a quiet commitment to reducing waste and creating objects meant to last-pieces that are used, carried, and kept over time, rather than replaced.
